Why Hello There…

Why Hello There…

If you had told me a year ago that I would be living in a farm house in Montefino, Italy for almost three months while freelancing for three clients and being able to travel, I would never have believed you, yet that is exactly where […]

The Work Travel Balance of A Freelancer

The Work Travel Balance of A Freelancer

How does one balance working and traveling all at once? There are a number of questions people keep asking when they hear what I am doing and they all begin with the word how:    How are you finding this work? How are you funding […]

I am fat

I am fat

Often when we hear a person refer to themselves as fat we will immediately say, that’s not true or don’t say that! Even if it is very much the truth. Somewhere along the line, the word fat got aligned with ugly and if you were […]

Whenever I go to Rome it seems I end up near the Vatican. In our most recent trip just 36 hours to be exact we arrived in Rome around lunch time and were hungry and a bit tired from the bus journey on Flix bus […]

The Importance of Self Care… A Reminder That It’s Okay To Slow Down

I was reminded recently how important the balance of work and play is when you are living the long-term travel life. Some days Sean and I have are quite boring, we work, cook food and watch a movie. Other days are full on of experiences […]

Review of Sweet Stay in Rome

Review of Sweet Stay in Rome

Sometimes I just don’t want to deal with Airbnb… and when I don’t, I use booking.com to figure out a place to stay and it hasn’t let me down yet. Caitlin, Sean’s sister came to visit us and her flight arrived just a little too […]

When You Are Feeling Scared But The View Is Hella Good

When You Are Feeling Scared But The View Is Hella Good

If you ever visit the Grotte de Stiffe which I highly recommend then you will also see a small walking path to an old fort. It’s a semi-rocky path at first but the views you are offered are ones that make it worth it. I took […]

Local Tips: Grotte de Stiffe

Local Tips: Grotte de Stiffe

I discovered Grotte de Stiffe from the Facebook page Paesaggi d’Abruzzo when they posted an incredible image from Lisa Cipollone about it.  I instantly went to look up how far it was from me in Montefino and if I could go see it. Upon discovering […]

How’d I End Up Here?

How’d I End Up Here?

One Monday in October I was sobbing. It was my day off after having a lovely weekend with friends visiting from America and I was on my couch in an apartment I loved and I was sobbing, like big gasps of air sort of sobbing. […]

Buying Local – Montefino Edition

Buying Local – Montefino Edition

So our biggest expense so far while we’ve been here is actually grocery shopping. We can’t help ourselves! There is so much fresh produce and meat that we would never have been able to afford while in the UK at the quantity and quality that we […]

Why Hello There…

Why Hello There…

If you had told me a year ago that I would be living in a farm house in Montefino, Italy for almost three months while freelancing for three clients and being able to travel, I would never have believed you, yet that is exactly where I am. I wish I had started this blog a bit earlier in my journey so that I could have posts about the preparation, the stress and the excitement but I didn’t and there’s no time like the present.

I am writing this after I’ve already written a few posts that are just waiting to be uploaded and I am scared and excited. I think my About Me explains what I hope this blog will do for me and what you can expect from it so if that’s what you are looking for then make sure to check it out.

Right now this post is going to appear on a half-finished website that I, with a bit of help from Sean will be working on over the next few weeks but hey, it’s a start! I just wanted to get Arms Wide Open going and document this journey. Sometimes what I post will be shit and pointless. Other times it will be a little personal and might make some of you uncomfortable with what I am saying but, I’m also hoping that sometimes I’ll post something really fucking fantastic that I hope is witty, has good insight and might maybe even inspire you to get out of your comfort zone or at least let you know where you can find to get a really great pizza.

I am not striving for perfection with this blog. I am striving to create an online journal that documents this journey. The good and the bad of it. Not every picture I post will be aesthetically pleasing or perfect. Not every post will have perfect grammar or make sense… Some might just be inner ramblings  and who knows they might even have gem in them or might not…  That is not my goal. I repeat, perfection is not my goal.  Down the line, maybe that will be THE goal but, I want to be honest as possible with this blog. Sometimes things will seem perfect (but that’s social media for you) and other time’s you might be a little concerned about me and sometimes I might need your help in pushing me, helping me figure out what to do or where to go because as you learned in my About Me that can be hard for me to do.

I hope to create a balance of “perfection” and “real life” with this blog. I have no idea where this will go or what will happen. Who knows, maybe down the line the theme and purpose completely changes but I hope either way you follow me on this journey. It might not always be exciting but at least you will know it is very real.

Oh and give me a follow on Instagram. I do love a good LIKE and Comment.
